This $3,795 two-bedroom apartment at 2705 Center Boulevard in Hunters Point, Queens, is in one of Long Island City's modern buildings with an East River waterfront view of Manhattan. It's one stop into Manhattan on the number 7 train a few minutes walk away.

Pros: The amenities are great -- pool, 24-hour fitness center. And the finishes seem top notch -- large windows, hardwood floors, granite kitchens and marble baths.

Cons: We're a tad suspicious about the fact that the apartment's been on the market for 11 weeks considering what a strong rental market the summer is; in fact, there are a large number of availabilities in the building.
