No-Fee Apartment of the Week: Downtown 2 bed pre-war stunner with w/d, $4,800
If any apartment might convince me to leave the safety of rent stabilization, this one might be it. Oozing with pre-war charm and updated with every detail the modern dweller might wish for, this two-bedroom, two-bathroom no-fee apartment in a pre-war elevator building near the South Street Seaport is a show-stopper.
The location, at 220 Front Street, will not please every apartment seeker, as it does not have abundant everyday retail and service options in the immediate vicinity. But the rent, at $4,800, appears to take into account the downside of the location. The kitchen and baths are renovated to a very high standard, and there is a Bosch washer and dryer. The unit has direct elevator access, an individually controlled temperature system, high ceilings and expansive views of the East River and Brooklyn Bridge.
