NYC doormen to rally on UES tomorrow

If you live near Park Avenue and East 83rd Street, prepare to encounter more than the usual number of smartly-uniformed doormen on your way home from work tomorrow.

With the contract deadline a little over a week away, Local 32BJ just announced a march of “up to 10,000” union employees beginning at 5pm at East 79th and Fifth Avenue, wending its way through some of the city’s priciest real estate toward Park Avenue.

The march will wind up at Park Avenue and East 83rd Street at 5:30 pm, when union officers, elected officials and workers will rouse the crowd and cast a collective shadow in the general direction of the bargaining table.
