Public transportation is crucial to the lives of New Yorkers, which may be why three Chelsea apartments on this week's Hot Dozen -- the 12 rental apartments Streeteasy.com visitors clicked on most often over the past seven days -- are located less than a block from the closest subway stop.

A studio at 170 West 23rd Street and 7th Avenue is listed at $2,500/month and has no broker fee. The apartment is located in a luxury building in the heart of Chelsea and is on the same block as the 1, F and M trains. The apartment also has a small Juliet balcony.

A junior one-bedroom apartment at 221 West 28th Street and Seventh Avenue is listed at $1,895/month and is also available as a short term rental. Not only is the apartment located steps from the 1 train, it's also only a short walk from transportation hub Penn Station. The walk-up building has a live-in super and Virtual Doorman. Note:  It's been on the market for almost 2 months.

You are about 10 hours too late to rent this two-bedroom apartment at 240 West 15th Street and Eighth Avenue, whcih was listed at $2,995/month with no broker fee. The apartment was less than 500 feet from the A, C, E, and L trains and on the edge of the West Village, increasing the food, shopping, and nightlife options just outside your (would be) door.

For more of the most popular listings of the week--from studios to three-bedrooms, elevators to walkups--check out the links below. The building is a co-op, which means you'll need to be approved by the board.

If the apartment you like requires a guarantor that you don't have, see if the landlord accepts Insurent, a great solution from one of BrickUnderground's sponsors.
