No-Fee Building of the Week: Large-apartment deals in Kips Bay full service highrise

While the white-brick building isn't high on most lists of architectural beauty, rental prices are often lower than those found in newer full-service buildings.  Parc East Towers is a newly renovated 1970's high-rise building located at 240 East 27th between Second and Third Avenues, across from the NYU Medical Center. Apartment interiors have been renovated as well with high-end finishes and views from the higher floors. The building has a full-time doorman, concierge, valet, fitness center and residents' garden. No-fee apartment search site UrbanEdgeNY shows eight units available, ranging from a one-bedroom, one-bath offered at $3,245 (no great bargain) to a very decently priced flexible four bedroom, two and a half bathroom for $5,635. (The median price in Manhattan excluding Harlem for a 3-bed, 2.5 bath is $12,000/month.)

Pets are welcome, and the location is close to the subway. The neighborhood is a haven for recent graduates, and Third Avenue has an abundance of happy hour options, so this might not be your cup of tea if you are looking for more mature environs.

No-Fee Building of the Week is writer A. Ready's weekly independent selection of a no-fee rental building that she believes reflects good value given current market conditions. It is not an advertisement for the building, nor is it paid for by any company/website mentioned.
